Studio Hire in Leeds

Photography, video and podcast studio hire in the heart of central Leeds — dry hire, or with a photographer on hand.

Dock Street Studio is a fully equipped photography and content studio in central Leeds, a short walk from Leeds train station and Leeds Dock.

Hire the space on its own, or book it with photographer Mark Wheelwright behind the lens. With professional lighting, a full backdrop system and a space wired for sound, it's built for everything from headshots and product shoots to video and podcast recording — all in one central, accessible location.

Why hire Dock Street Studio

Genuinely central. We're in the core of Leeds near the station and Leeds Dock — not on the outskirts. Easy for clients, talent and crew to reach, with secure parking and on-site loading.

Wired for sound. Unlike most Leeds studios, our space is set up for audio as well as visuals. Two movable sets make it ready for podcast recording, interviews or a live-lounge setup — not just stills.

Serious kit included. Your hire gives you access to a full 2.7m backdrop system with a wide range of Colorama colours, Avenger C-stands and booms, Elinchrom ELC 1000s and RX600s and GODOX strobes, continuous lighting, and over fifteen high-end modifiers — umbrellas, beauty dishes and deep octa softboxes from 40cm to 135cm — plus large V-flat boards for negative fill and Manfrotto Skylite Rapid frames with 2m × 2m and 1.2m × 2m diffusion cloths.

A photographer on hand — if you want one. Hire the studio dry and shoot your own way, or add Mark to help with lighting, tethering and direction. Hirers regularly tell us that having an expert on hand made the difference.

Built for real production. Green screen, cine cameras, cine lenses, full-frame DSLRs, tethering software, audio capture and a 5K iMac on site for editing and workflow.

The space

Dock Street Studio sits on the first floor of a listed building at Unit 9, 30–38 Dock Street, Leeds LS10 1JF. The studio measures over 450 square feet with 10-foot ceilings and a full 2.7m Colorama backdrop system, with optional natural light for styled shoots and blackout control when you need it. Standard backdrops in black, white and green screen are always set up, with a full range of colours available on request.

The studio is wheelchair accessible, with secure parking and on-site loading — making it a practical, professional base for fashion, product, e-commerce, headshots, commercial stills, and video and sound production.
